We used to have vegetable and fruit as main sources of food for our rabbit. Rabbits seem like fruits such as banana and blue berry.
We gave the following vegetables routinely:
- cabbage
- spinach
- carrots
- lettuce
- and cucumbers
Now, we change our daily rabbit diets with 80% hay.
Why?
So many people don't know that hay should be 80% of a rabbit's diet. Hay contains fiber, and without it the rabbit can easily get Gastrointestinal (GI) Stasis which is deadly.
Do you know about Rabbit's diet?

Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteI used to work in a pet supply store...for 9 years, 1987 to 1996. I am more familiar with cats, dogs and cage/pet birds. If you can find a website for a veterinary clinic that specializes in exotics, you may be able to find out about the rabbits 🐇 dietary information there.
ReplyDeletegreat to know your experience...

In passato abbiamo avuto conigli in casa. Mangiavano molta erba, frutta e a volte anche pane.

OMG your rabbit is so cute! I don't have a rabbit, so I don't know anything about their diet. But it's good to know how to take care of them.

Such an important reminder! Hay is vital for a rabbit's digestion and health. GI stasis is so dangerous—thanks for spreading awareness about proper rabbit care! 🐰💛
ReplyDeleteQue fofo nunca criei coelhos. Rainbow bjs.

That is an adorable rabbit. I have a very smallish one living in the yard. He was born this year, and sometimes I tell it that it is being too bold by being in the middle of the yard without cover, but it goes on happily munching clover and weeds, and occasionally one of my garden flowers. So far, he has avoided all predators and doesn't seem afraid of me if I don't get too close.
ReplyDeleteI once wrote an article about keeping and caring for rabbits. (Dutch) Perhaps you could translate it and read it. It's on my Natuur website. Your information is certainly interesting and useful.👌
