If we are raising chickens, we might not aware that chicken plumage falls down on daily and falling increases at a certain time.
Based on internet resources that temperature is the main factor to cause falling of chicken's feathers.
As temperature lower during Fall and Winter seasons, the chickens are molting, might be like leaves falling down from the trees.
Moreover, another factor that "broody chickens may begin to molt once they have finished caring for their chicks."
So, we no need to worry or wonder, because chickens molting is a natural process. The old feathers will be replaced by new ones.

Your observations about chickens molting are spot on. Indeed, temperature changes play a significant role in this natural process. As temperatures drop during Fall and Winter, chickens shed their old feathers to grow new ones, much like trees shedding their leaves.

Beijinhos.

It's fascinating how chickens undergo molting, just like other creatures adjusting to the changing seasons! Understanding that this natural process is triggered by temperature changes and their reproductive cycle helps us care for them better. It's a great reminder that even our feathered friends have their own ways of adapting to nature's rhythm. It's comforting to know that the feathers falling during these times will be replaced by new ones, keeping them warm and healthy for the upcoming season.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy New Year! By the way, I’ve just shared a new post on melodyjacob.com.

I never noticed. We kept hens at my parents home.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time since I raised them, when we were in the countryside I did but they did not usually change their plumage much, if when they were small once they were adults it was not something common.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year.
Best regards
I'm going to check on the chickens again :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
I never realized how similar molting hens are to falling leaves in the cooler months. It makes sense that the temperature plays such a big role in their molting process.
ReplyDeleteVaya... pues no lo sabía. Gracias por compartir.
