Fig 04- Barbacoa taco

The fourth type of taco which I love is Barbacoa taco. It is said as an authentic dish from Mexico.

My favorite is goat or lam instead of beef. It is because a goat or lam has specific taste for me.

Like other taco, it can be combined with several kinds of vegetables. The goat or lam is seasoned with spicy stuffs.

What type of tacos do you like?

Do your city, state or country have specific or own taco taste?

Organic Vs Natural Foods – Part 5 – Food 9

Fig 01- Egg plants, illustration

You may read previous postings (Part 1, 2, 3 and 4):

From previous postings, we may draw several conclusions:

1) Natural foods are foods that are extracted from plants and animals without chemically altered or synthesized.

# They are minimally processed and not contain specific additives, including:

- sweeteners
- food colors
- flavorings
- and antibiotics.

Fig 02- Pomegranates seeds

1) Whereas organic foods are produced, manufactured and controlled by certified organizations.

# In the USA, we have USDA to manage organic foods certification in order to comply with USA Organic Food Products Act

Fig 03- Asparagus, ready to cook

Organic foods are not necessary natural foods, vice versa, natural foods are not mean organic foods.

Fig 04- Fish with vegetables.

There are advantages and disadvantages of organic foods compared to natural foods, thus, organic food probably isn’t more nutritious and safer than natural food.

Finally, Organic and natural produced foods aren’t much different in terms of their benefit (advantages) to human being.

Organic Vs Natural Foods – Part 4 – Food 9

Nice dip, just for illustration

Previous postings (Part 1, 2 and 3):

In respect to price, organic foods cost 20 percent to 100 percent more than conventionally produced foods (Valliant, 2014).

Some of the reasons are:

- more labors
- demand higher than supply
- higher cost fertilizer
- crop rotation to keep soil healthy and prevent weed growth
- grows more slowly
- post-harvest handling cost
- and organic certification costs

The certification is provided by USDA (United States Department of Agricultures).

In term of shelf life, organic foods last longer than natural foods, since natural foods less proceed and contain higher water.

Water caused natural foods to be spoiled easily. But, since organic foods is handled and sold by big supermarket (Merz, 2016) or specific retails such as Whole Foods Market, thus, organic food is often fresher.

Then, fresh food tastes better.

Organic Vs Natural Foods – Part 3 – Food 9

The facts of organic and natural foods (Organic Food, 2016)

You may read previous postings:

The question: Is organic foods more advantages in terms of more nutritious content and safer?

The answer of this question might be seen at above Table (The facts of organic and natural foods).

We can examine the fact of organic and natural foods from the Table.

There is no doubt that demand for organic foods is growing faster over the last decade.

As reported by Faber (2016) that organic food is growing in terms of sales (soaring from $3 billion in 1997 to more than $10 billion in 2003); and the industry's share of the U.S. food market (grow from about 2 percent to roughly 3.5 percent by the end of the decade).

Autumn season, just illustration

It is logic that since natural foods have no excessive processing of food items; thus the foods might not disturb the health benefits.

However, as described by Lange (2016) that it is difficult to single out the organic foods only to increase people health benefit, since people also:

- drink healthy water
- take exercise
- and do other good relate healthy things.

Different between organic and natural foods
(Source: Organic Food, 2016)

We sometimes confused with the words of “Natural foods” and “Organic Foods.”

Generally speaking, natural foods are foods without processing and no additives.

Some says that natural foods have minimally processed and not contain specific additives, including:

- sweeteners
- food colors
- flavorings
- and antibiotics.

The foods that are grown and processed based on standard certified by USDA (United States Department of Agricultures) is called “Organic Foods.”

Then?
